Expressen
In 2009, the Expressen newspaper hired me to develop a party affiliation test for the Swedish parliamentary election of 2010. Building on the similar app I built for the 2009 EU parliamentary election, I expanded on the weighted scaling of respondents' questions, also adding weights to the official responses from parties. This made it possible for my app to match would-be single-issue voters with their corresponding single-issue parties. Although I lacked time to do one for the 2014 election, I hope to develop a version for the upcoming 2018 election.
WWF Sweden
Betwen 2006-2008, hired by WWF Sweden, I developed various online tools for estimating consumption-based environmental loads. The underlying calculation and estimation procedures were developed together with the Stockholm Environmental institute at the University of York, UK, resulting in three separate web-based tools aimed at, respectively, adults, children, and schools. This work later led to subsequent collaboration and work with other partners.
WWF Sweden/TV4
The national TV4 channel, in collaboration with WWF Sweden, initiated a large climate change awareness campaign in 2007: the Klimatsmart campaign. As a latent aspect in several of their series and programs, I was hired to develop the online presence of this campaign. Collaborating with assigned graphics designers assigned to me, I build a web community - personal pages, images, messages, forums etc - integrated with a household-oriented sustainability calculator. Gaining approximately 12k registered members, the community never reached the necessary critical mass for takeoff.
Naturvårdsverket (Swedish Environmental Protection Agency)
Working as a commissioned researcher/analyst for Naturvårdsverket, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, I calculated and wrote a report on the ecological footprint of Sweden's production and foreign trade in primary agricultural goods in the 1995-1999 period. The report turned into the land use chapter in the "De Facto 2010" government report on Sweden's environmental goals.
Rymdbolaget (Swedish Space Corporation)
Odin is a swedish research satellite launched in 2001, developed by Swedish Space Corporation (SCC) in collaboration with agencies in Canada, France and Finland. Working in the fields of astrophysics and aeronomy, Odin aids the study of star formation and observations related to global warming and the ozone hole. To keep track on real-time sensor data streaming from the satellite, SSC tasked me with developing a suitable surveillance system. To keep it mobile and easy-accessible, I developed it in the form of a Java Applet, with custom display panes and graphs for the different type of data that it was fed.
Royal Institute of Technology (KTH)
Between 2009-2011, the Department of Industrial Ecology at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) hired me as a software and research consultant in their "Household metabolism" project. Tasks involved developing algorithms and data structures, calculating consumption conversion factors for different goods and services, and implementing a web-based environmental load calculator: EcoRunner.
Medströms dataförlag
Writing articles for Datormagazin, Sweden's largest periodical for developers and programmers, including a series of articles on community development, mini-itx hardware, game development etc.
